Biography

James Fieldgate and Elizabeth Frances Levett married on 6th June 1865 at St Michael's Parish Church, in Newhaven, East Sussex in England. James was aged 22 and a Mariner and Elizabeth was aged 18 and a Spinster. Both signed the register.

James was the son of Thomas Fieldgate [also a Mariner] and Harriet Mitchener. And Elizabeth's parents were  George Levett [also another Mariner] and Elizabeth Williamson.

This was definatly a seafaring family. Unfortunately Elizabeth's husband James drowned in France and Elizabeth was left a widow. She then ran a Sweet Shop in Newhaven, Sussex.

Below is a picture of her daughter Corrie behind the counter of the shop in High Street, Newhaven.
